Important - Changes to Tax Relief at Source (TRS) Scheme

In the recent budget statement, the Financial Minister confirmed changes to the Mortgage Interest Tax Relief at Source (TRS) scheme from 1 May 2009. Following this announcement, instructions have been received by the Society from the Revenue to remove entitlement to TRS from certain mortgage accounts.

All customers who have been affected by the removal of TRS will be contacted shortly by letter to inform them of their new revised monthly mortgage payments.

The Revenue carries out the assessment of individual TRS entitlements and has indicated to the Society that this needs to be ceased on a number of accounts at present. However, they are in the process of reassessing individual circumstances and, therefore, entitlements may possibly become reactivated in the future. Should you have any queries regarding your entitlement, please contact the Revenue directly on 1890 46 36 26.

We understand that this change, and the short notice provided to both lenders and our borrowers, could cause potential repayment difficulties. Please contact us if you have any concerns at all or if you envisage having any difficulty in maintaining the revised mortgage payment. You can contact us on 0818 222 336 and we will be happy to assist you.

WARNING YOUR HOME IS AT RISK IF YOU DO NOT KEEP UP PAYMENTS ON A MORTGAGE OR ANY OTHER LOAN SECURED ON IT. THE PAYMENT RATES ON THIS HOUSING LOAN MAY BE ADJUSTED BY THE LENDER FROM TIME TO TIME.
