Community Support

Full steam ahead for Thomas and Friends

Leeds Building Society branches are supporting the National Autistic Society by selling Thomas & Friends Zip Pulls throughout June and July. Thomas & Friends zip pulls are on sale at all branches for a suggested donation of £1. Jennifer Chambers, The National Autistic Society Corporate Partnerships Officer said,

“Many children with autism have a particular love of Thomas and Friends. Research has shown that the bright colours and clear facial expressions make the characters easy to identify and relate to. By displaying boxes of Thomas and Friends zip pulls, Leeds Building Society is raising essential funds for our services.

“Over half a million people in the UK have autism, that’s 1 in 100. Together with their families they make up over 2 million people whose lives are touched by autism every single day. A child with autism becomes an adult with autism and the right support at the right time can make an enormous difference to people’s lives.”

Leeds Building Society is very pleased to be displaying the Thomas & Friends zip pulls in our branches. By selling the zip pulls, and telling our customers, friends and family about the appeal, we are helping to raise funds for this vital cause. We are confident of an excellent fundraising effort throughout the campaign, as well as further increasing awareness of this largely unknown and misunderstood condition.
